Adam Curry knocked from first place by Slashdotted Roland! Now its the next day and Adam is back on top or at least ahead of Roland.  The Slashdot effect only lasted one day.

Nintendo just declared war on my computer!

I just went to this URL on the Nintendo site.  I have Cookie Pal set to play a shotgun blast whenever it kills a cookie.  I had to duck under the desk and was afraid to come out for quite awhile.  When the smoke cleared I was amazed to see the house still standing.  I had the volume turned way up while listening to some music earlier.  Cookie Pal says that Nintendo blasted me with 78 cookies on this page.  Thats got to be a record!  Check it out.

Complimenting CompUSA. I returned a 14-month-old Nintendo GameCube to the local CompUSA store Sunday because it was having trouble reading CDs -- new CD-based videogame systems are not as kid-proof as the old cartridge systems.

My expectations for computer-related customer service are extremely low, so I didn't even try to return the defective GameCube for months.

CompUSA's customer service department found my lost two-year extended warranty, replaced the GameCube instantly with a new one, offered another two-year warranty, and treated it like a new sale -- giving me a chance to choose a free game. I didn't even have to find the sales receipt.

I'm guessing this has something to do with the cheapness of GameCubes and their likelihood of breaking down, but this unexpectedly pleasant experience with a chain store leaves me a little weepy and proud to be an American. [Workbench]

Copying is Theft - and other legal myths

By Mark Rasch, SecurityFocus

So the RIAA and MPAA's claims that all "copying" is "stealing" are much overhyped.
