Thanks for checking in everyone.  I will be posting all of the particulars about what's up with Jinni and the rest of us here over the coming months.

Check back often and comment when you wish.  Ask questions, because obviosly we have nothing to hide.

Thanks for all of the prayers, thoughts, encouragement and promises of meatloaf.

I'm headed back to Charlotte.  Still having some trouble with the blog software and I have conversation going on over at tech support about it.  You'll know I was successful once you see my next post... or not.  Anyway... here's some random stuff.

*****************

  • I created a new site for Jinni updates.  It's in the blogroll column over there -------> and it's called What's Up With Jinni in case you want to bookmark it and go directly there.  I'll set up a new web address for it soon and also create a bunch of pertinent links to sites we have found.
  • Jinni's parents are coming in from Kentucky today.  Just by chance, they had scheduled the trip long before the diagnosis.  I'll get back Thursday night to spend some time with them.
  • Son Jackson has been moved up to Grimsley's varsity football team just in time for him to dress out for Friday night's play-off game with Charlotte's Providence.  Should be a great game.  Go Whirlies.

******************

Maria Johnson called Friday with an interesting proposition.  Maria is the N&R reporter who wrote the feature story on yours truly back in August.

Because Maria and other N&R folks read this blog before they read their own paper in the morning (that's a joke, guys) she called to offer encouragement.  Then she proposed, with her editor's blessing, that the N&R was interested in having Jinni write a monthly column for the paper about our family's upcoming experiences as we tackle and hogtie her cancer.

They are working on the particulars but, if it comes to fruition, the column will hopefully lean toward a diary of what's going on with the family more so than what the treatments and surgery and side-effects are all about.  Sounds like a blog to me, but what do I know?

Jinni says she thinks it is a good idea on many levels.  She was going to start (actually re-start) a journal anyway and by sharing it, she is sure that others who might be going through a similar situation can gain insight to their own circumstances and comfort in a shared experience.  In addition, writing is is a great catharsis, so putting her thoughts down will help her keep grounded.  I'm fer it.
