August 31, 1954. The First Presidency adapts the age for ordaining young men to the priesthood, making it 14 for teachers and 16 for priests (the previous ages having been 15 and 17). [From This Day in LDS History].  Recall as well that about ten years ago the age of eligibility for a young man for the Mechizedek Priesthood (held by Mormon men) was reduced from 19 to 18.  Does anyone know whether the age brackets for young women (known as Beehives, MIA Maids, and Laurels) have changed over the same period?  Just curious. 9:23:18 AM
