Bill Ice
I just received this note from Bill, who agreed to let me pass it on to classmates:
I wanted to wish you a belated Happy
New Year and pass along how my year hasn't started on such a great
note. Much to my surprise, I started getting angina pain recently, and
the next thing I know I'm in Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, CA
getting a quintuple bypass. I had the operation on January 12 and was
released from the hospital on the 18th. Anyway, I'm having good and bad
days, but recovering pretty well and hope to be swinging a golf club
again in a few months. Right now my main goal is to walk to the mail
box and back!
So much for taking care of yourself
and eating healthy food. I might as well have been a chain-smoking fast
food junkie for all the good it did me. But you can't fight your DNA,
and I guess I should have known that since my younger brother Allen had
a bypass 4 years ago. I hope things are going well for you and that
your retirement plans are still in full swing. I retired from flying 5
years ago and really haven't missed it that much.
Bill said that he would enjoy hearing from classmates. You may reach
him at his e-mail or home address, both listed on
the '58 Web Site.
