From today's paper:

As Jim and Pam Greenaway watched the rugby in their lounge on Saturday night they were oblivious to the massive slip that left their Ohiwa Harbour home, southeast of Whakatane, teetering on the edge of a 20-metre cliff.

They heard nothing despite being about 15 metres away from the slip, which left part of their bacony hanging over the drop.

"When we got up in the morning ... they harbour looked very full, then my wife realized the large pohutukawa tree at the front of the house had disapperead," Mr Greenaway said.

Proof that indeed, the rugby match was a real cliffhanger!
