MSDN subscriptions for small ISV's...

Even as a Java developer I have found that having ready access to
Microsoft tools, platforms and documentation to be useful.

I found this out the hard way: at the last company I worked for we used
to have an on site subscription to MSDN available in our Wellington
office. Then the powers that be decided that the MSDN materials should
be kept in one the Auckland office cupboards - and when we wanted
anything we were to let the Auckland IT staff know what CD in the set we
wanted copied and sent on down to us.

It was rather like having one of our arms chopped off.

So I am delighted to discover that Microsoft have available a
version of MSDN Universal for small ISV's at the drop dead price of +-US
$375.  They must be feeling the pain of the open source movement!

Anyone interested can find further details here:

Be warned that there are all kinds of hooks designed to try and make
sure that you get yourself tied further into Microsoft's loving embrace.
It would appear that the price also includes a fair amount of labour on
your side... So if you are interested do read the fine print very
carefully!
