Newsweek is running a story on how the story that got bumped from CBS's "60 Minutes" in order to run the Bush national guard story was... a story on how the US government got fooled by forged documents that showed Iraq trying to buy uranium from Niger.

Also, CBS is getting fined for the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction.

This is the TV network with 3 -- count 'em, three -- "CSI" shows all about forensic science. You'd think they'd be able to get the bottom of these things. Doh!

According to this article in the Internaional Herald Tribune, the Pentagon is blocking access to the web site for overseas government employees to get help registering for absentee ballots, purportedly to limit hackers' access. A self-inflicted denial-of-service attack. Conspiracy theorists would suggest that the Government knows that many military personnel are unhappy with being called up from the National Guard into active duty overseas, and in having their active duty extended beyond reasonable expectation.
