My daughters and I spent the weekend in Friday Harbor. It was glorious and beautiful, except for two little things:

1. Very foggy this morning, so all the ferries were using their horns starting very early this morning.

2. By late afternoon when we were heading back to the mainland, the ferries were 2 hours behind schedule. At least we got to wait it out at home, since we live so close to the ferry dock.

Speaking of so close to the ferry dock... there was an interesting band playing this afternoon right across the street from the ferry dock. Very unusual style; my daughters and I spent a while trying to figure out how to describe it. Here's my best try:

Take a mariachi band, and give them all triple lattes. Add a full drum set and a tuba. Stand a safe distance back.

It sounds like it could be very, very bad, but actually it was GREAT! Unfortunately, I didn't catch their name.  Hopefully they'll play in town again sometime soon.
