I went to donate blood tonight. For the first time in my life, I was deferred. Why? Because back in November, I rode in a car between Hangzhou and Shanghai.
There's nothing wrong with visiting Hangzhou, or Shanghai. Or flying between them. But if you drive in a car on the highway, then you're driving through a rural area with a high risk of malaria.
Bleah. At least it's only a temporary deferral, until next November.
