Why Guts Matter

FastCompany, http://www.fastcompany.com, is becoming one of my monthly "must reads" and the September issue exceeds expectations. It's the "Courage Issue." Senator John McCain leads off with "Why Guts Matter" and many other writers contribute. I also liked the list of "Cowards of the Year."

That list was headed by Leslie Moonves, CEO of CBS, who caved to political forces and sent The Reagans mini-serises to Showtime and banned an anti-Bush ad on the Super Bowl (while allowing the Janet Jackson "wardrobe malfunction," which, by the way, doesn't seem to be helping her career any].

Others include: Elizabeth Hoffman, president of the University of Colorado who did little during the sexual assault scandal among the football team; Symbol Technologies' Tomo Razmilovic who fled to Sweden after charges of securities fraud, Bill Clinton, who, in his memoir the size of his ego, refuses to confront the sexual misconduct that likely cost Al Gore the presidency; and Bud Selig, who consistently avoids confronting the drug problems in Major League Baseball.

It's a must-read issue.
