Rating manufacturers Got the scoop on the manufacturer's rating system I wrote about last week. Marketing communications person Jennifer Aiello told me that the ratings are done in-house by company researchers/analysts. They sift through lots of data and massage it with their own algorithms and weighting systems in order to come up with the ratings guide. The results are on the eMvoy Web page and searchable by various categories. She told me that there are no "5 Cog" companies, yet, but that they are sifting data and intend to name a list of world class "5 Cog" companies in the near future. This is the rating guide: *****     World-class ****     Industry Leader ***     Nationally Recognized **     Major Market Presence *     Recognized Market Presence NR     Not Rated I think this is a good idea. Purchasing managers will have to develop trust in the ratings system used, so this may take time. I'd still love to see them add a personal experience comment section, like Amazon or Apple. That was just a big help to me in discovering that I was not alone in gross disappointment with a Logitech headset I bought and used the ratings to select a Plantronics one in its place. Ford's new CEO Ford Stepping Down as Automaker's Chief Executive. William Clay Ford Jr. is giving up the chief executive's title after five years. Alan Mulally, an executive at Boeing, will be the president and chief executive. By MICHELINE MAYNARD. [NYT > Business] Turning around a huge company is not an easy task. Ford's previous CEO dug a huge hole for Bill Ford to climb out of. Too much for someone, although groomed for the top spot, who has no turnaround experience. Mulally has good credentials.
