Just got out of the keynote sessions at the Invensys Process Systems Customer Conference. All the discussions reinforce the week's message laid out last night--Invensys' focus on the software application layer. Wireless got about a 15 second spot at the end of the morning. Peter Martin gave an excellent presentation on his research of the past 10 years or so on what executives are looking for. Not new to me or my readers, but probably a good dose of it for many of the attendees. Nothing beats hearing and feeling the enthusiasm. These interviews that his team conducts with CEOs, CFOs and other high ranking industry execs led to his development of the idea of presenting financial metrics down to the lowest level in context of their jobs. The idea is to empower everyone to help the organization achieve operational excellence.
About 850 in attendance today. A record for this event. Just shows that these conferences are the way to go.

I'm in Dallas at the Invensys Process Systems User Conference. Last night there was a press conference given by VP Global Marketing Chris Lyden and Director of Marketing Don Clark where they laid out the Invensys road map. No surprises here. They left nothing to imagination about the importance of InFusion and performance management applications to the company's future. Building upon a host of technologies including security, standards, hardware, Internet, operating systems, networks, sensors, wireless and visualization, software applications will bring it all together. Well, off to the keynote sessions now. More later.
