I'm not surprised that Incuity was acquired. I'm mildly surprised that it was Rockwell Automation. For a long time now, I felt that Incuity had some cool technology but maybe not enough to build a big business. Since there were so many ex-Wonderware people at Incuity, I thought maybe they'd wind up there (personalities aside).
Here's information from the press release I just received. It has all the required quotes. I'd have to say that AMR's Allison Smith is more enthusiastic than I've seen before--going out on a limb to compare the combination with SAP's xMII platform. Hmmm, that's an interesting thought. With any luck I'll have an interview later.
Rockwell Automation Inc. has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Incuity Software Inc., a privately held company that is a supplier of Enterprise Manufacturing Intelligence (EMI) software. Incuityâo[dot accent]s software provides real-time intelligence for business decision support to improve operations and reduce production waste by providing valuable management insight into a companyâo[dot accent]s operations. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"Their newest software, IncuityEMI 2.6, easily integrates many disparate information sources from production operations and other enterprise systems. IncuityEMI 2.6 delivers unique insights into enterprise performance and key operational metrics, and empowers personnel to drill down and analyze the root causes associated with manufacturing problems. Combining Incuity's capabilities with the FactoryTalk integrated production management and performance suite will create tremendous value for our customers."
Headquartered in Mission Viejo, Calif., with regional offices in the U.S., Canada and South Africa, Incuity Software currently has more than 45,000 seats of its products installed in more than 40 countries in 13 languages. The Incuity Software management team and their employees will become part of Rockwell Automationâo[dot accent]s Architecture & Software operating segment.
