GOIN' CRAZYThe podcasting Google game. Yesterday, podcasting brought up 26,000 hits; today's total is 46,500.
And yes, the irony remains: Google still asks "Did you mean broadcasting?" |
SOMEONE TO FIGHT FOR
Journalism student Massoud Hamid, a Syrian Kurd, was sentenced to three years in prison for posting photographs of a Kurdish demonstration on Kurdish-language Web site Amude.com last June, according to Reporters Without Borders. The demonstrators were calling for civil rights for Syria's minority Kurdish population. Reporters Without Borders is demanding his release, saying Hamid, a student at Damascus University, "was just exercising his right to circulate information freely on the Internet." Outrageous, but unfortunately not unusual. Reporters Without Borders has 26 different petitions at its site (go sign them) trying to win freedom for more than 100 journalists who have been jailed in Burma, Eritrea, Cuba and other countries around the world.
