Observation

I'm not really sure how remarkable this is — or maybe the only thing remarkable here is that my quirky brain would actually actually notice such a thing — but today I was singing the song "Ain't Misbehavin'" and I realized something odd about the vowel sounds.

For more than half the song there is no ee sound anywhere. Then at the end of the release there are three consecutive long ones in "believe me". Then for the rest of the song there's just one more short one, in "radio".

Here's the lyrics, for those who don't know them:

No one to talk with, all by myself,
No one to walk with, but I'm happy on the shelf.
Ain't misbehavin',
I'm savin' my love for you.

I know for certain the one I love.
I'm through with flirtin', it's just you I'm thinkin' of.
Ain't misbehavin',
I'm savin' my love for you.

Like Jack Horner in the corner,
don't go nowhere, what do I care?
Your kisses are worth waiting for,
Believe me.

I don't stay out late, don't care to go.
I'm home about eight, just me and my radio.
Ain't misbehavin',
I'm savin' my love for you.

How strange is that? The ee sound is one of the most common vowels. Seems like you'd have to go out of your way to avoid it like that. (The "-be-" in "misbehavin'" doesn't count, because no one would ever sing (or say) that like ee.)
