My previous blog  "Is J2EE an Academic crap?" got an overwhelming response and also put me in a midst of controversy. Few guys complained that either I misquoted Miguel or misinterpreted his statements.

I originally received this message in the SEAJUG mailing list and few others also interpreted that Miguel tried to convey the message that J2EE is an academic crap. Also I read a blog by a .Net developer with a title  "Problem with J2EE: Academic Crap”  . As I'm passionate about J2EE, I thought to write this blog. Please note that I acknowledge that Mono could be a threat to J2EE if successful. This blog was linked from many technology portals such as TheServerSide.com, Java.Net and Java World that deal with Java and J2EE technology. The editors of these websites must have confirmed the veracity of my claim before linking my blog on their web sites.

I do not personally know Miguel or have any rivalry with him. I regard Miguel with high respect and what his team is trying to achieve in the Mono project and acknowledged this in my previous blog too. I read his interview many times before writing the blog and I got the message that Miguel is trying to convey the message that J2EE is an academic crap. If I wanted to be provocative or controversial I could have a title  “Miguel says J2EE is academic crap” or something like that. My blog was not meant to be a personal attack on Miguel or Mono project but was my opinion to acknowledge the fact that J2EE is not crap. Also I wanted to send a message to the J2EE community that J2EE is complex for new developers and we need to address to make J2EE more compelling for new developers.

I think all the dirts on thrown me for my blog is part of blogging life and I need to realize that. If all of world feels that I misquoted or misinterpreted Miguel and threw unnecesary dirt then I'm ready to apologize to him. But I still disagree that J2EE is not an academic or an academic crap. Neither do I dismiss .Net or Mono purely academic or any other technolofy as crap.
