Gone [posted by Troy] Those who know me will know that I am a fan of Renhquist. However, this slate article helps put the man in perspective. He was more reasonable than many others. He was not a zealot. He should have retired a long time ago, and unfortunately, the Bush v Gore may be one of his lasting legacies.

Katrina [posted by Troy] Often, our society criticizes the press for sensational news or for too easily crossing tabloid/entertainment with news coverage. Too many times, this is justified. Sometimes it is not. However, we would take note when the 4th estate actually lives up to its promises and brings about right actions in our government and population. During the Hurricane, it was the media that brought us (and the government) many of the first pictures and reports about what was going. It was media coverage that revealed the horrors of the Superdome and Convention Center. The media was our eyes and conscience.

Past weekend [from Gaper's Block] Checkout this post on Gapersblock that links to a Tribune and a Suntimes article about the Buffett conerts. It also links to some photos. Luckily, we were out of town.
