Then & Now [posted by Troy] I've spoken with many people about the 1960s, Vietnam, Civil Rights, etc, and one thing that comes through is that most people lived such normal lives during this time. We have this image of protestors taking to the streets but this was the vocal minority in a few places. The protests started on college campuses and slowly grew. By the early 70s, and especially after Kent State, the protests became a bit more mainstream and wide spread, but even then, most people went to work, watched the news, and surely, did not go out and protest. This makes me wonder about how the current anit-war movement will grow over into the future. This weekend marked major protests in the US and in Europe. Here's coverage by: CNN The Nation ABC News The Progressive It started with the vocal minority, and now it is growing.

Screwin' Texas [posted by Troy] An astute observer, sent me this link which shows hurricane Rita posing as a phallic symbol. It takes a good eye to pick up on something like this. Well done.
