Crowds don't work [posted by Troy] A few weeks ago I posted about prediction markets and about how good groups of people can be at making decisions. I thought it would only be fair to post about how equally poor groups of people can be, as Freedman notes in his article, the Idiocy of Crowds. Here's a quote:The effectiveness of groups, teamwork, collaboration, and consensus is largely a myth. In many cases, individuals do much better on their own. Our bias toward groups is counterproductive. And the technology of ubiquitous connectedness is making the problem worse.
