REAL CAUSE OF OBESITY? CUTTING OUT SWEETS!!!!! Not as fanciful as it seems: many years ago, Dr. Maria Simonson, a Johns Hopkins Professor of Nutrition, warned that a constant diet of sugar-free foods, and heavy reliance on sugar substitutes in diet drinks, would lead to obesity! Her research showed that sugar is necessary to curb one's appetite for excessive sweets. Her findings were emphasized in a best selling book published at the time Dr. Simonson's work was being ignored: "Life Is Uncertain: Eat Dessert First" championed her findings. The director and author will attempt to save as many lives as he can by simply intervening with his camera crew during the course of 90 minutes of filming. He hopes to embarrass health insurance companies and hospitals into continuing to care for patients with no cover - highlighting holes in the American system. For what this is worth - I find it hard to trust anything Michael Moore does - he will surely create some much-needed controversy.
