LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH - MEDICAL ERRORS!!!
At least 44,000 (SEE TODAY'S CORRECTED NUMBERS) people - the equivalent of 390 fully-loaded jumbo jets - are dying each year due to likely preventable, in-hospital medical errors, making this one of the leading causes of death .... not cancer, heart disease, AIDS, diabetes or auto accidents - not any of the things you might have thought. Imagine the public outcry if a jumbo jet crashed every day killing everyone on board! Imagine the demand for immediate action - for a 9-11 style Congressional Committee - for an investigation leading to the identification and punishment of those to blame!
Why is none of this happening? When will we take the first steps toward ending this growing epidemic of preventable deaths? When will those in charge of our medical system be forced to take action to halt this continuing tragedy of needless death.
