Sainsburys home delivery On Thursday the 4th November 2004 sometime between 20:00 and 21:00 sainsburystoyou will deliver 30 items of shopping to my apartment. Until recently I have been taking the train on Sunday mornings to Grays and shopping in Morrisons. There are a couple of points to note about Morrisons: I recently discovered that there is a Tesco Extra at Rainham quite near the station. I would have gone there last Sunday but as there were no trains on the C2C due to engineering works I took the rail replacement bus to Grays. In the mean time, I discovered that Sainsburys and Tesco both do home deliveries in the Purfleet area. I was going to order from Tesco but I did not want to pay the £5.00 delivery charge. Instead I registered with Sainsburys and spent my hard earned cash there. At the end of the shopping process I confirmed my order and too late noticed that there is a £5.00 delivery charge! Ho hum. The original delivery date was to be last Tuesday. I had forgotten that I was going to dinner with people from work that night, so had to cancel the order. To do this I had to telephone Sainsburys. Later on I went online and added a couple of items to my 'trolley' then searched for the next available time slot. This turned out to be this coming Thursday. In the mean time I ran out of some essentials - loo roll, tea bags, bread - and bought these in Morrisions. So, tomorrow I'm going to have one hell of an exciting evening. The Sainsburys delivery guys (there are usually two and they will probably be men) will arrive, I'll invite them in for dinner but I'm pretty certain that they will probably refuse, being the consumate professionals that they are.
