October 13, 2004 - Commerce Township Director of Planning Connie Guest reportedly resigned her position last week.
According to township officials, Guest was given the opportunity to resign after the township Board of Trustees voted to terminate her at a special budget meeting held on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
"There was a motion to terminate her employment immediately, then there was an amendment to that motion to office her the opportunity to resign by noon on Wednesday, (Oct. 6)," said township Trustee Robert Long.
The board consensus was apparently that Guest allegedly wasn't putting pressure on developers to do more that just the minimum when it came to design and construction of certain projects within the township.
"The development that is in front of Meijer along Haggerty with the backs of those buildings right up along Haggerty Road," Long cited when asked for an example.
Wow, Super Connie verses the the nasty underhanded developers! We always thought that the township planning commission had to sign off on the plans. Doesn't the commission have final sign off authority? Who will fire them? Has any one noticed that a majority of the reelect Zoner campaign signs seem to be located on purchased developer properties. But wait, wasn't Mr. Zoner helping Connie in the fight?
