I haven't done well in creating a focus for this blog.  I started it to separate work from, well, non-work.  Course, I was kinda hoping to do some neat things like get others blogging so we can do our own little U-blog kblog kinda thing... bottom line -- just do it.

This front page will really be like a day book - noting what I am working on with links to the full products.

For example, most of today, with the exception of our weekly staff meeting, has been spent researching the federal and state laws and rules that impact security, content management, rights - accesses - permissions, and other IT matters within the USG (and that means all 34 institutions).  The work product is a rather simple spreadsheet at the moment.  I am using lots of references which I will also need to document.  But, in a word, COMPLIANCE.  That is how you can write your job description if you work in management anywhere this decade.  So much for smaller government.

Oh, I got a G4 Powerbook.  So far, I have learned how to use it to play classical tunes on net radio.  The last time I touched a mac was when listservs were sexy and the screen was black-and-white.  We shall see ...
