High Gear Whitehorse has kicked into high grear. This week-end was the start of the Yukon Quest - a 1,000 mile sled dog race. There were dozens of dog teams that took off yesterday from the start line, and many many people lining the begininning of the race route to see them leave. As well, the Frostbite Music Festival and Rendezvous Winter Festival are both about to start, plus in less than two weeks Whitehorse hosts the 2007 Canada Winter Games.
And while all these things are great for getting rid of the proverbial cabin fever, I chose to get my sillies out by going to see a clown. Joe and I went to see Jamie Adkins and Circus Incognitus last night at the Arts Centre. He's incredible, and for an hour and a half I laughed so hard tears streamed down my face. What I liked most about him was his wonderful ability to take a simple object like a piece of paper or a grape, and come up with a whole host of very funny things to do with them.
Then on Valentine's Day I'm going to see Muna Mingola, who's referred to as the Blue Flame of Cameroon. These shows are tiding me over until Iris and I leave on holidays in 12 days!
