Alaska gov wants to overrule constitution for recrim CannabisNews picked up this story from the Anchorage Daily News, which decribes efforts by Alaska's governor to push the state legislature into recriminalizing home possession of small amounts of marijuana. He doesn't seem too worried about the Alaska Constitution, which led to the decrim policy. Others think the constitution will prevail.
William Satterberg, the Fairbanks lawyer who argued the case that toppled the state prohibition on at-home pot, said he doesn't think the courts will backtrack.
"Unconstitutional still remains unconstitutional no matter what the Legislature thinks," Satterberg said.
Let's hope so. Elsewhere in the world, recrim is also under discussion.
