Good Diet Improves Health? Say It Isn't So!
EU: Strict Diet Can Help Fight Diseases
This is an article which combines some good science with some questionable statements.
Dr. Myatt has told her patients for many years now that proper diet and supplementation can postpone, eliminate, and sometimes even reverse many of the diseases associated with ageing.
There is no doubt in our minds that healthy diet can lower the risk of Alzheimer's disease and dementia - something that EU researchers have now "found." To read more about Dr. Myatt's recommendations for preventing Alzheimer's disease and memory loss, follow this link to the Wellness Club website: http://www.drmyattswellnessclub.com/alzheimersdisease.htmThe statement though that "Bread is a nonfattening and healthy food" rings alarm bells for us here, because so much of what goes into most mass-produced bread has been stripped of it's natural nutrients - hence the need to add back or "fortify" those nutrients to something that is otherwise just a high-carbohydrate, starch-laden, addictive vehicle for trans fat margarines and cane sugar based confection spreads.
The idea of adding bacteria to foods to aid gut function, while a reasonable one, will be controversial and possibly risky - perhaps better would be to use a probiotic supplement like Suprema-Dophilus http://www.drmyattswellnessclub.com/supremadophilus.htm which will have a far more certain action that bacteria which has been added to food and then subjected to the rigors of being processed and then "preserved." Proper gut function is more than just good bacteria, it is also dependant on the diet in general, and especially on dietary fiber - something that is sadly lacking in much of our highly processed foods. More information and recommendations for good gut health can be found here: http://www.drmyattswellnessclub.com/constipation.htm .
Finally, we must applaud the bold comments of Dr. Tobias Hartmann, a researcher at the University in Heidelberg in Germany who said "It's very, very clear people are combining food with health,"... "The potential of food to help you remain healthy and not to fall ill is very strong." Bravo Dr. Hartman!
Cheers, Nurse Mark
