Two recent excavations in the area of the Raval reveal burials more than 5,500 years old.

Can you imagine life back then?

Life span was certainly short, very very short, I would certainly be dead at my age but imagine being in this valley back then.

The constant purr of the ocean. The sea would be just within a few steps of your home and if it was not too cold you could get inside throw a net and fish.

ON the left you would have seen a large mountain that in 5000 years time would have been called Montjuic. Towards the right and all the way until the horizon a constant beach line and behind you another mountain where 500o years later there would be an amusement park.

Your home would be surrounded by low bush, pine trees, boars, rabbits, dear which you would hunt for food and leather, The area is very humid with a lot of small ponds rich in plants that give grain and seeds.

Now days all this beauty has been covered up with cement, only pigeons left, hardly any fish, dying trees, and mac Donald[base ']s food supply.

It seems that we are healthier now days since we live longer.

Well this discovery of a stable neolithic colony has thrown back the idea that the roman Barcino had founded Barcelona. Romans did not build the city on top of a virgin area There was another settlement underneath.

Next time in the city please visit the museum of the history of Barcelona. http://www.museuhistoria.bcn.cat/

Fascinating
