Daily Life
Activity swirling all around me, lots to inspire and depress. Spent Tuesday evening with a dear friend of mine, a voice teacher from Texas named Jeannette Lipford whose influence in my life has been profound. Here she was again, praying over my family, telling stories about her kids, oohing and aahing over my kids...a truly wonderful, inspired evening.
I'm spending a fair amount of time just sitting with people over coffee, listening to their lives pour out, wondering how in the world to touch the strength Jesus seemed to live in. We are called to be his presence in the world, and he said once the Spirit came, his disciples would do greater things than he. Yet so often, our words fall short, our actions feel powerless. How do we acknowledge our fallen humanity, yet claim the power of the Holy Spirit as promised throughout the New Testament?
It's an ongoing question.
Other notes from the week: I still haven't found my glasses, but I'm using an old pair that seems to help. The kids are traveling to a Latin convention over the weekend, and my wife is heading out of town as well, so I should be able to get some good writing done. For those of you that are wondering, Hunting Grace is finally starting to get some momentum, and I hope to finish by midsummer. Keep praying that I will stay on task. As always, lots of other ideas for books, stories, and projects keep percolating.
Staying on task...
