    Getting My Head Examined

No cause for alarm, but I had a migraine headache last week, the first one of my life, with light shows, etc., and when my wife told me it might be related to high blood pressure, I promptly ran down to the local Safeway, stuck my arm in the blood pressure machine, and sure enough, it was a little high. So as to avoid a triple bypass, I called the doctor and booked an appointment.

The appointment was yesterday, and all seems to be well--blood pressure back to normal, etc.--but he did say that migraines usually start before the age of 40, and seeing as how I'm a few years past that, he set me up for at CAT scan of my head. No worries, the doc said, just standard practice with the late onset of flashing light headaches.

Yes, in about an hour, I'm finally going to have my head examined.

I'm hoping they find all sorts of answers to the daily dilemmas that seem to emanate from my head. Surely they'll see why my thought life has that touch of random in it, and why my habits are so hard to break. Why memorizing plays isn't too tough, why remembering people's names is next to impossible. Why intellectual thought is both appealing and disconcerting, ending as it always does in a country just a bit beyond my comprehension.

Surely we'll discover the cause of all my heady maladies.

Joking aside, the worst of it is that's it's nearly 8:00 a.m., and I have yet to have a cup of coffee. This is one of those "no food, no water" regimens. I'd say by 10:00, I should be fine.

Bless all you migraine sufferers...not fun...
