For those of you who might have wondered, I got the results from my CT scan...my head is fine, and they found exactly nothing to tell me about those "heady" maladies I was mentioning a couple of weeks ago. So much for modern technology.
A couple of interesting things on the producting front. I am closing a short run of my one man show Leaving Ruin tonight at Taproot Theatre. We've had nice houses for the first two shows, and the audiences have been attentive and kind in their appreciation. It feels very much like I'm doing the show at home, Taproot being the place where I've done most of my acting work in Seattle.
I got a call a couple of weeks ago from a church in Thunder Bay, Ontario, hometown to my good friend Evan Whitfield, and it turns out the Redwood Park Church there is going to be producing my Christmas play, The Question of Bethlehem, this holiday season. There may be a life for this little play about Jesus confronting a small town's suffering--consisting of an act of genocide brought on by his own birth. I will be anxious to hear how it goes.
Amy and Daniel are raising money to go to Scotland next summer. The Roosevelt High School Drama Department is planning on taking a musical review to the world reknowned Edinburgh Fringe Theatre Festival. Candles, car washes, showcases...who knows what else? If you are within arm's reach of my kids, expect some sort of pitch in the next several months. They are also both in the throes of "Dramafest", Roosevelt's annual festival of student-directed one act plays. Amy is directing and Daniel is waiting to be cast. More to come...
And finally, Amy is preparing to go to college, setting her sights on some of the more pretigious musical theatre training programs, i.e. Carnegie-Mellon, University of Michigan, Boston Conservatory. We'll see where she lands, but we're just going to keep praying that God puts her right where she belongs.
...gonna keep walking....
