Hurricane Katrina and real people. . .

My next door neighbors across the alley, Ann and Ron, have family in Mississippi.

My local news paper prints stories everyday of the unfathomable human suffering and governmental bungling.

The television is filled with news (and more importantly the truth in the form of the "fake" news from Jon Stewart).

This is a disaster not only of mother nature but of human nature.

There is no reason in this world why we should continue to let people suffer and die.

I have been "planning to do something" but I've been "too busy" but tonight I am taking action.

I have blogged on my Microsoft blog http://blogs.msdn.com/mglehman

I'm podcasting here.

I'm unpacking boxes of old clothes and donating them first thing in the morning.

And I'm urging you all to do something. . .tonight!

Don't wait.

Think about what it would be like to be poor, black, and living in the heat, stench, sewage, and compassion-less cesspool that once was the city of New Orleans.

And do something!

Now!

Update:  I'm still searching for a way to donate the clothing I've gathered.  The American Red Cross says that it only wants new clothes because the cost of cleaning and sorting used clothing is too high.  Any suggestions are welcome.
