The Abbey Restaurant. abbeyrestaurant

The Abbey in Atlanta, Georgia provides a unique dining experience. The restaurant is in an old church and has 60 foot ceilings and stained glass windows. The male staff wear monks[base '] robes and the food is elegant, including a butter poached lobster with Jerusalem artichokes and a pan seared ostrich loin. The Abbey is large but there are private and semi-private dining areas available in the sanctuary, the wine cellar and the altar. The restaurant also has a cigar-friendly lounge area and a wine list which has earned Wine Spectator[base ']s Award of Excellence.

31 Flavors...of toothpaste

Toothpaste flavors generally don't stray much from varieties of mint, and Margaret Josefin finds that so boring, she designed a breath "palette" with 31 flavors. Here is a partial list of flavors in the palette:

  • Sweet Salt
  • Fresh Yogurt
  • First Crop Green Tea
  • Cafe Au Lait
  • Indian Curry
  • Bitter Chocolate
  • Lemon Tea
  • Cola
  • Vanilla
  • Caramel
  • White Peach

It looks, sadly, like the only shops that carry the breath palette are in Japan. But if you're paying a visit soon, check out the shop list .

Making sites that don't look like blogs.

A good thread on Ask MetaFilter about making sites that don't look like blogs, but are built with weblog tools. A good number of Movable Type-powered sites are mentioned, along with smart resources for doing the same yourself.

A picture named>Blog Torrent</a> people. I had just met them this morning, and we instantly hit it off. I realized why as we were walking to the coffee place. They're so young, so enthusiastic, idealistic, bright, irreverent, curious, committed, wacky, you can tell they love hanging out with each other, and it's a lot of fun hanging out with them. They're software people who totally care about users, and are doing new things that people can really relate to. This, by the way, is the philosophy so beautifully expressed in Douglas Coupland's masterpiece, <a href=Microserfs. The concept of application software as a worthwhile end, the wierdness of nerd culture, the concept of 1.0. [Scripting News]
