IFI 5:00 – 7:00 PM Chris Shepherd Screening and Artist Talk

Award winning filmmaker Chris Shepherd presents his BAFTA nominated short, 'Dad’s Dead' (2003). ‘Who I Am and What I Want’ (2005), will also be shown along with his latest work ‘Silence is Golden’ (2006).

CineWorld - 6:00 PM Daydream by Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor (Desperate Optimists) 35mm

Daydream, a specially commissioned film for the Liverpool Biennial 06, is a highly poetic and meditative work tracing the connection between a city at a moment of great change and how this moment is reflected in the world of its citizens.

IFI 7:00 - 9:00 PM Maeve by Pat Murphy Britain, 1981, sound, colour, 110 mins 16mm

Informed by feminist critiques of representation and narrative structure, ‘Maeve’ is one of the most significant examples of avant-garde filmmaking in Irish cinema.

Featuring new work from David Phillips and Paul Rowley ‘Commonwealth’ and ‘Gravity Loop’, as well as the first test screenings of Joe Comerford’s new film, working title ‘Roadside’ and Western Plumbers (formerly Dogmedia) ‘DEMO CRA CY: A futile exercising of your non-existent democratic freedoms.’ Feedback on both test screenings will constitute part of this artist talk.

IFI 4:30 – 6:00PM Halloween Short Film Festival Selection Curated by Philip Ilson

Halloween Short Film Festival present a selection of short films that fit the Halloween ‘remit’ – films that are unexpected, take chances, don’t play by the rules. This selection covers all bases, from lo-budget quirkiness to glossy special effects, from animation to documentary, from filmmaker experiments to confidence in ideas. These shorts truly bring death to the genre as they rise phoenix like from the flames in all their glory – beware the projector with teeth!

Described by the artist as a ‘solid light film’, this film-installation questions the traditional film limitations eliminating the screen in favor of the primacy of the projection event. It draws attention to the projector’s cone of light interacting with the physical presence of the audience.

The YOUTUBE SALON is set up for any user to vision mix between streaming Youtube videos.
