Show #53: Soundseeing at York
This show is a soundseeing tour of a quick trip to York University in Toronto. It combines soundseeing with music that I added later. The background music underlaying some of the narration is from a great ambient music site called Spheric Lounge that has many Creative Commons licensed songs for non-profit use.
Some of the live music that I heard while at York was cello music, so it put me in the mind of that style of music when I was searching the Podsafe Music Network to find content for this episode. I found a great group called Two Star Symphony a Texas based quartet that plays music reminiscent of Danny Elfman, the Kronos Quartet and Tom Waits in his Bertold Brecht, German Beer Hall days. If you like cello and string music, this episode is for you. The show features two of their songs, "Something She Said" and "The Marionette".
In the podcast I make reference to two authors, Eden Robinson who I saw speak, and read from her work, and Joseph Boyden, whose novel Three Day Road I am now reading. A terrific first novel, though not for the squeamish.
