Mar 7 6:30 pm | Perspectives On Local Women's History Hackley Public Library, Julia Hackley Room. Four local women will participate in a panel discussion of several aspects of women's history in Muskegon. Question and answer period follows discussion.
- "Women and the Vote" - Krista Menacher of the Muskegon County Museum will discuss how West Michigan women shared in the struggle to achieve the right to vote
- "Women and Feminism" - Community activist and political candidate Marcia Hovey-Wright will describe Muskegon's participation in the early days of the women's liberation movement, including the Equal Rights Amendment and the formation of the NOW chapter
- "Women and Work" - Labor activist Myrl Lockett will talk about the history of women's role in the labor movement and employment issues facing women today
- "Women and Health" -- Counselor and midwife Barbara Olsen will discuss the history of women's health issues, including medical research, sex education and domestic abuse
