Book Reviews from 'Master the Art of Reading' Summer Reading Club participants
Restaurant at the end of the Universe by Douglas Adams: Hysterical look at what "higher" lifeforms look like in the universe.
I'm not really here by Tim Allen: Overall one of the best books I've ever read. Tim Allen is not only a comic, actor, author, and father, he's also one of the most inspiring men on T. V.
Frommer's Texas edited by David Baird: This book is an excellent read because it gives details about the state of Texas in sections. It also lists the events that take place each month.
Walk by Faith by Roseanne Bittner: This is the first book I read of her's. I am hooked! I love the way she put religion and the belief in God in these characters.
Something about Emmaline by Elizabeth Boyle: Sorry, I felt it was not a good read for me.
Puss 'n Cahoots by Rita Mae Brown: If you like animals and mysteries, you'll love this book and any one of many in this series.
Before and After by Rosellen Brown: A thought provoking look at how one young boy's crime of passion affected him and his whole family. It presented some serious questions that his family had to face. Good reading.
Backup by Jim Butcher: I was not a fan of this, probably because I have not read any of the previous books. I like the point of view and it is easy to follow and understand but its not a book for me!
Hussey Place by Leola Charles: This book was interesting. Kept you reading.
My Point, and I do have one by Ellen Degeneres: In this book, Ellen gives an inside look at how she grew up and how she got started in comedy. She also reveals the struggles she had when she told the public she was gay. This is definitely a book I would suggest reading.
The funny thing is... by Ellen Degeneres: Aside from being one of the greatest talk show hosts, she also has a really great sense of humor. In this book, her humor definitely comes out. I would recommend this book to everyone.
The Princess by Jude Deveraux: I always have loved all her books. In this one she made me feel like a princess.
Birds in your backyard by Robert Dolezal: This book is from the Birds and Blooms folks and the pictures are just beautiful. Has lots of great information.
Clay Aiken: Learning to Sing by Allsion Glock: This book gives a very insightful look into the life of Clay. Plus, it gives inspiration to those who want or are dreaming of becoming a star.
One Man's Treasure by Charlene Green: A good book if you like urban love stories.
Farmer's Wife by Lori Handeland: This book is about a woman who tries to be a farmer, but doesn't like being on the farm. Her husband tries his best to help her be a good farmer. It is a good book.
Between Heaven and Ground Zero by Leslie Haskin: This book was moving and inspirational.
Pemba's Song-a ghost story by Tonya Hegamin: Once I started reading, I could not put it down! Pemba moves into an old house and connects with Phyllis, a slave from years ago that worked at the house. After helping a gentleman she meets, she receives more insight into the previous family. Ultimately, in the end, she puts the slave's soul/ghost at ease and continues to live happily in the house.
