Eustis, Florida (March 16, 2006)…Nick Rousey (Pensacola, FL) and Jordan Dempsey (Jacksonville, FL) head up a group of five golfers that fired six-under par 66’s Thursday in the opening round of the Michelob Ultra Classic over the 7002 yard, par 72 Black Bear Golf Club.

Joining the pair of Floridians at the top are Alex Rodger (Redlands, CA), Joe Affrunti (Crystal Lake, IL) and Travis Nance (Cartersville, GA).

Four players are one stroke back at five-under 67 including Black Bear pro Jeff Corr (Longwood, FL) and former Florida Gator Nick Gilliam (Gainesville, FL)

Michael Henderson (Orlando) and Matthew Borchert (Orlando) fired three-under par 69’s and are three strokes back heading into the second round.  Orlando’s Ryan Lamond opened with a two-under par 70, while David Suggs (Orlando) had a one-under par 71.

Round Two will begin at 7:15 Friday morning.  Fifty-eight players are at one-under par or better after round one.

The total purse for The Michelob Ultra Classic is $128,000 with $21,483 going to the winner.
