Broken Link Fixed

If you tried to read the latest Story and couldn't because the link was broken...it's now fixed.  I think.  No more writing till I'm truly migraine-free for awhile.  Thanks for alerting me to the mess, Yami!

Fonts: The Scourge of the Blog

Back in March, Jim Austin on ScienceCareers' AmericasWeblog, gave me a nice little plug.  Although he also said:

Warning: Zuska really likes fonts

I swear I did not know that fonts are bad.

Some of those fonts in the beginning were due to inexperience in handling Radio Userland, which often has its own way with your formatting if you don't pay attention.  But I will admit I like italic, boldface, and typesizing to emphasize my points.  So there.

If you go read AmericasWeblog, you should be forewarned:  they do NOT like fonts.  However, I am a fan of Jim Austin because of this wonderful diatribe.  Zuska would happily welcome him as co-instructor to her "Beginning Ethics for Senior Scientists" seminar.  You could go poke around that whole ScienceCareers site, it's lots of fun. The home page, I noticed, employs a variety of fonts.  Beware.

Topa-Haze All 'Round My Brain

This started out as a normal post but quickly got too long...so now it's a Story.  It's the story...of a lovely Zuska...who was bringing up a very lovely blog.  (sorry...too much Brady Bunch in my formative years.)  Anyway, it's the story of why this post has been edited, and why it needed to be edited in the first place.  And there's a very nice moral at the end of it, so it might be worth your while to read it.  Here's a little tease to make you go read it...

I am an unusual engineer in many respects.  And not just because I'm a goddess.  My earliest ambition in life was to be a writer and indeed, by age 11, I had produced a "novel" entitled Visitors From Earth in which the heroine - named after the most popular girl in my class, but really me - manages to avert interplanetary warfare, discovers she is the princess of a distant planet, and acquires two boyfriends, but refuses, for the time-being, to marry either of them, unlike her two friends who settle right in to marriage at story's end.  All in 6 pages.  I have not yet averted interplanetary warfare, but I have indeed discovered my goddess- and empress-hood, not to mention the avenging angel sideline, which I think is just as good as princess of a distant planet.  And I'm on my second husband.  Hmmm...   (read more)
