Miles away
The return of bethwatch, with more of the BDS, to the BDW is of great interest here at the BDR. Our good friend Briar stirs the pot with a loaded question to her about Tim Finnegan, "What is Jack's opinion of Tim Finnegan taking over his "solution" and claiming that HE solved it, bethwatch??" Bethwatch, caught off guard, fails to demure a question she can't answer, tap dances and finally fobs off the whole question by pronouncing him "harmless to BDS"; "I think he feels that if Finnegan is not against BDS, then he's a welcome ally, so more power to him, despite some of the many mistakes he's made. I guess it safe to say he feels Finnegan is harmless to BDS". (12/20/2007)
Well, well, I think that Finnegan feels nothing if not relieved to hear that bethwatch thinks Jack regards him as an ally, which is ever his fondest hope. I am also sure that an ally would drop me a line or two pointing out some of the "many mistakes" Finnegan has made, instead of just making such an outright assertion of error in what is for both me and Finnegan, decidedly hostile territory. More power to me? That said, I take heart in observing that bethwatch is probably a decent person who wouldn't make such a claim on-line without being at least conversant in my work, and that means she's a reader. Good for her. I would like to have an exchange with these people, maybe I'll contact them at some point, though after having publicly done such a thing, one might have expected the intellectual integrity to even these things up on their own. What's the matter with kids, today?
Not that it's all her fault. Our Dear Briar set her up, and let her down, hard. Tim Finnegan is just a pseud, see? Fat chance bethwatch knew that or cared. Briar might have said "Matthew Mezger" for that matter, but she might have gone for the quick google and framed a reasonably thought-out answer, as it was, she was flying blind. St. Monica leaves nothing to chance, even to the point of illegally invading my isp address server with the help of an insider pal at userland so she doesn't even leave any doubt of her cunning and prowess. Wicked, scary lady with a headache for the millenium, don't cross her way. A thorn in the side. But I digress.
The new stuff from BDS Jack? An evolving cryptic tale of flying jazzbos on a bebop and codeine coaster to the NU-Pike, where coded co-conspirators abound, the birth of the cool and the death of the black Dahlia. Why has he changed the airport from LAX to Long Beach? Not that LAX ever was correct, but at least it made some sense geographically. Long Beach Airport is an awful hump from the Black Dahlia's Hollywood/West LA environs particularly along the surface routes of the day. Yeah. That's what I want to know. Still, it was creepy. Larry must be slavering over the new nurse by now...no, wait. Larry doesn't read bethshort dotcom, Jack has read his Elroy, and I've read the whole of Finnegans Wake.
It seems we now need a peace confrence, or better still, a symposium on the matter. If Jack don't come then, he's out there, and we can all lay our cards on the table, the authors can sell a few books. These guys who worked before FBI files were released can be grandfathered in on those grounds, and then everyone can apologize to me personally, and we can get down to closing this case. If Briar doesn't mind, that is. I'd ask myself, but I'm still under papal ban over there. I still don't know why. Since they bring me up all the time, this one being no exeption. And now we all know what bethwatch thinks BDS Jack thinks of Tim Finnegan, maybe not surprisingly...not all that much,
