Richard Anderson blogs on a conversation we've been having for a few weeks now:

Apparently not just about "Managing User Experience Groups". . .  recently, a friend working on a short article wrote to me about the distinction he was thinking of making between "managing UX professionals" and "managing the UX teams' place in the organization."

To me, the work of "managing user experience groups" encompasses both of those things, everything referenced in the earlier quote, and much more. But apparently, "Managing User Experience Groups" implies much less. And I wonder how much this makes the work of user experience managers (or directors or VPs or...) that much more challenging. . . [Riander Blog]

Richard goes on to plug his upcoming course at the UC Santa Cruz Extension (in Cupertino, go figure) about "Managing User Experience Groups." You'll have to wait until January to read the article that I wrote for ACM <interactions> magazine, but you can participate in the conversation by signing up for the class. I might even talk myself into attending myself. Knowing Richard, it should be well worth the time and money.
