Even regular old-fashioned telephones seem to be high tech.
Both the fax and the phone lines went out yesterday---a busy signal. GCI was able to reset the fax line, but was unable to get the phone line reset. While waiting for more help from them, I finally found where all the lines were connected into one set of plugins in the downstairs closet. I unplugged all the lines, plugged them back in, and by magic we had phone service again. At least until sometime today when some one tried to call and got a busy signal for two hours when no one was home. But, by the time I got home this evening the phone was working again. No one had touched anything.
Later this evening, my cable modem quit. I unplugged, replugged, restarted and nothing. I fussed with it and at it for a while then gave up. Finally, just before I went off to bed, I went through one more unplug, replug routine and everything worked once again. It must be the static in the air from last night's wind storm.
So, for the moment we have two phone lines working and one cable modem that is running internet service to three computers. AND there are only two people who live in this house!!
