I'm Back

Lots has happened

  • Spent two weeks in Seattle--- the Slingerland Institute for Literacy board meeting, completing two writing projects for them, attending the stage production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and the opening of the Seattle Mariners baseball season.
  • Began a quarter-time job as Administrative Assistant at the Alaska World Affairs Council. I resigned my Board seat and moved to the office. The quarter-time job has turned into a three quarter-time position---at least for another three or four weeks. Three weeks after I went to work our executive director moved to Washington, DC to become president of the national World Affairs organization (WACA). (Jerry Leach is retiring.) Our Board is in the process of hiring a new executive director---perhaps by the end of this week.
  • Acquired a second tutor student. This one will be a short timer---two months, probably. So now, I have students 4 afternoons a week from 3:30 to 4:30.
  • Concluded hosting the World Affairs Great Decisions discussion group. We have had stimulating discussions and the event made sure that at least once a month my house got cleaned from top to bottom.
  • Monitored my stocks. Fortunately, I had just finished doing some portfolio selling and buying before I started the World Affairs job. As long as the Nasdaq is up, my stocks look good.
  • Started wrapping up the Stock Market Game for the semester.
