Where Has the Month Gone?
I guess I've been spending a lot of time dreaming of flying around in an F22. On that note, L and I have been watching the Ken Burns series, The War. It is running this week on public television. So far, Burns has done a magnificent job. It is a grand mixture of reality battle footage and connection with three towns on the homefront in the U.S. The men from those towns tie it all together. The current interviews with the men, used throughout the series, add depth, meaning and relevance. I'm interested in how Ken Burns deals with the atomic bomb on Japan. Everything else has been matter of fact (with out particular moralizing) and even-handed.
Other than The War and war machinery
I resigned from the Slingerland board of trustees last month. I had been treasurer and on the board for five years. I decided I had taken the board and organization as far as I could. To go the next step requires much more time and expertise than I have. They need to determine and design Slingerland teacher training courses/workshops that will sell in today's market.
Despite resigning, I'm still combining and editing the contents from the two Slingerland text books, books 1 and 2. I am probably two-thirds finished. Currently, I'm working on the part I never wanted to tackle.
While writing this, I'm waiting for people to come for the next-to-last session of my Economics and Stocks for Teachers class. It is a great group of teachers. What more could I ask for than to have one of the teachers say, "This could become addictive." And another teacher is sharing the info with her teenager at home. The daughter is busy analyzing a couple stocks and wants to open a brokerage account to invest part of her baby sitting money. For me, that's what it is all about.
