All news reports here today contained updates about Gretta Duisenberg's visit with Yasser Arafat. Duisenberg is wife of Central European Bank president Wim Duisenberg, Europe's equivalent of Alan Greenspan. Gretta has been harshly critisized for a Dutch-Palestine support group that she co-founded.
From what I can see, her real problem is managing her message in the media.
I hunted around for international opinion, but couldn't find anything. I mean hey, this is the CEB president's wife were talking about here. Not just some kook. Nothing on the BBC's news site. Nothing on CNN either, but expatica.com has a good summary of the highlights.
I'm not entirely sure what Mrs. Duisenberg's message is myself, but I know she has humungous balls, 'cause what she's doing sure takes some. Perhaps a strong woman can bring about some real changes in the middle east?
