A good friend once wrote: "life is more like a wild dance than a ceremony. You just can't tell what's coming next."

Boy, did we get a curve ball thrown at us last friday.

I was on my way to Scjphol airport for my trip to BloggerCon II when I got a call that Patricia was in the hospital being tested for a 'heart condition'. You can imagine why I had my cab turn around due south straight to Belgium.

A long story (and a very long weekend) told short; Patricia has a hereditary heart condition and she was lucky enough to have received a 'warning' before anything major happened.

An angiogram showed that her oblique marginal artery had narrowed by 90%. In her case that particular artery is only 1 millimeter thick, so an angioplasty wasn't possible, or nessecary for that matter, since her marginal artery is just that, marginal. This isn't uncommon, and with medication and specific exercises, the rest of her otherwise very healthy heart will be trained to absorb the work performed by the malfunctioning artery.

The fact remains that we were very lucky to have caught this in time to change some things in our life so we can all live happy, normal, and very long lives.

Thanks to Ole Eichhorn for filling in for me and Dave for the excellent and possibly lifesaving advice. Give me a day or two and I'll be back to posting updates.
