Republican senator Chuck Hagel (R) came up with the perfect Bush beating tool this week by suggesting the US reinstate the draft. "Why shouldn't we ask all of our citizens to bear some responsibility and pay some price?" he told a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on post-occupation Iraq. Now we have to focus the attention on where we're going to come up with the manpower to continue operations such as in Iraq. It appears the draft will be unavoidable. This should certainly get the attention of young voters.

Patricia and I watched a great movie the other evening: The Insider, starring Al Pacino. Although we selected it because of Pacino, it was a real eye opener with regards to 'big media'.
Based on a true story about a CBS 60 Minutes-episode in 1994 on malpractices in the tobacco industry, that was not aired because CBS parent company objected. Westinghouse is negotiating to buy CBS, so CBS attorneys advise CBS News to shelve the interview and avoid a lawsuit.
Ofcourse the attorneys and the editor in chief of CBS news stand to personally gain millions of dollars once the sale is completed.
