This is my official blogging start for my Radio weblog. I am going to start posting items from the Radio-UserLand mailing list and other blogs of note. Maybe I can give Robert Barksdale a run for his money!

Jake Savin answers a question about callbacks, and explains about a standard piece of UserLand code.

New Radio feature: Changing the file extensions for rendered files. This allows Radio users to modify the file extension for use with PHP, ASP, JSP, or .shtml.

Rod Kratochwill writes about running Radio behind a NAT/Router/Firewall.

Alan German answers a question about dialogs coming up while trying to update Radio.root from the Dock icon in OS X.

Brent Simmons announces a new beta for OS X users having problems with upstreaming.

New Radio feature: Home Page Category checkbox. This allows Radio users to mark posts which appear in categories you check, but don't appear on your weblog's home page.

Mark Woods: talks about how to call the renderObject macro to create a single HTML document with different rendering styles.

Steven Vore offers a drawLeftLinks macro to build Navigator-style links from an OPML file.

I wrote two scripts for those who've been using dedicated home page categories and custom upstreaming and who want to use the new Radio feature instead: adjustHomePageInclusion and cleanUpAfterCategoryDeletion. Some documentation can be found on the discussion post I made to announce the scripts.

They're my first scripts, so be gentle. :)

Again, I got a blank outline when I tried to edit the following message in the Radio outliner by clicking on the "Edit with Radio" button:

http://ruminations.weblogger.com/discuss/msgReader$138?mode=day

I looked at the OPML version of this message:

http://ruminations.weblogger.com/discuss/msgReader$138.opml

and it seemed to look ok - all of the posts were there. In the editorial outline, all of the posts were there. I noticed that there was there was a blank line between each post in the outliner.

Looks like it's time to make a post to the Radio UserLand discussion group - sigh.

No luck, still got a blank outline when I clicked "Edit with Radio" on the message. I have just updated Radio.root, so will try more time.

I just updated the MBB tool, so I am going to try again and make a post, then edit the discussion group message in a Radio outline.

The home page was not flipped, so that is good. Next, I tried to edit the discussion group message in the outliner using the "Edit with Radio" button, but I got a connection error. After some digging around, I found a note that suggested I go to the /prefs/radio part of my Manila site to check my Radio settings. I did this and saw that I needed to change the port from 80 to 5335. I did this and was able to open the message.

Now I have a different problem. When Radio opens the message, I get a blank outline. When I look at the message in the editorial outline, the message text is there. I wonder if this is an OPML thing. Since I posted the message using the Manila Blogger Bridge tool, does Manila treat this as an OPML message? Let me do some digging here.

I have created a new post on my Manila web site http://ruminations.weblogger.com, and I will now make a post from the Desktop Website to see if the home page is flipped again.
