The servers know what they need to receive from these desktop weblog editors, so they might as well tell the app directly instead of forcing them to enter it all by hand.

I don't think the current RFC is complete enough, but it's a start and that's exactly what we need.

I think his idea has some excellent portent, even though I cannot speak toward the completeness of the RFC. Software that just works. It fiendishly hard to create something that noise-less, to twist Brent's words, and since the software is designed to minimize its time with you, you really have to savor that brief encounter. And don't forget to reward the creators for working so hard to make it so easy.
