We had a meeting with a BigPub yesterday, and one last week. At both meetings we comiserated about the impossibility of running a discussion group for people who read our sites. Yesterday I did some repair work to get the archives of our old discussion group back online and just spent an hour or so trawling through the messages. There were some great posts. The vast majority are easy to read, not complaints, not accusations, just sharing an idea or experience, a tip, an observation, asking for help, answering a question, helping someone out, or thanking someone for their help. Our experience mirrors that of the Big's. In any open DG, eventually the few shout down the many. All I wanted to say about this is What A Shame. The few even get to rewrite history, they shout so much, point the finger so aggressively -- I totally forgot what a cool place our discussion group was.  [Scripting News]

SP 2472 leading an excursion at Bayshore, CA. See excursion information below

Spring Steam Special with SP 2472

The Northern California Railroad Club and Golden Gate Railroad Museum are joining together to operate the Spring STEAM Special pulled by steam locomotive 2472 from San Francisco to San Jose and return on Saturday, Mar30. This may be the only public steam excursion by 2472 this year because of the pending weekend closures of the CalTrain line and higher insurance costs. This will be the first time SP2472 has operated on an excursion since 1996. We will use the single level CalTrain VRE Cars, and we will have photo runbys. This will be an event to remember and treasure! The train will leave San Francisco around 13:15, and the return before 17:30.
Tickets: Adults $65 each, Children under 12 occupying seats $40 The Northern California Railroad Club is acting as agent for the Golden gate Railroad Museum and CalTrain and limits its liability to the cost of the tickets. Only if the trip is cancelled will refunds be made.

Resevation Deadline Mar23, 2001

Order Tickets from:
NorCal RR Club, 473 Edinburgh Street, San Francisco, CA 94112-2819 Make checks to Northern California RR Club. Tickets will be mailed starting Mar01

My review of the 3Com 11 Mbps Wireless Workgroup Bridge at O'Reilly Networks Wireless DevCenter: the 3Com bridge is a small and simple device that lets you hook up to four wired Ethernet devices (via a non-included Ethernet hub) into the bridge to connect to an existing wireless network. No reconfiguration of the Ethernet devices is required, nor do you need a special AP.
